I went to the resort for a conference. The conference facilities were very nice. The room was large but did not suffer from echo problems so I was able to hear the speaker with no problems. My only critique is that the parking lots are not well laid out and took some effort to figure out. Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind.
I wanted to say thank you to the Regional General Manaeger, Cornelius Russell for his wonderful customer service and overall superb attitude. You can see it reflects with all of his team members.
We stayed at Samoset for our honeymoon. The room was super comfy, esp the bed. HOWEVER, there was trash under the bed from the last guests and the room smelled quite strange and musty. We had a deluxe ocean view room, however, we were on a low floor so our view could have been better. We were very close to the golfers, a bit too close for me. Again just a personal preference. We asked if we could switch rooms, to which we were told " you have the best room". The next day, an older couple was in front of us at the front desk, they asked for a better room and received it with no charge. Upgraded to a suite. But we had the "best room". Not a big deal, but it rubbed me the wrong way. Everything else was great, room service was prompt and employees were very professional. Views are gorgeous. Pool was great and felt very luxe. I'd stay again, but I would not pay for the superior room as it was not worth the money. You can take it the amazing views from any of several observation points.
Well there was an issue with our door cards on arrival and when Cornelius overheard us speaking of it, he generously upgraded us to a cottage right on the water. What a breathtaking view that we woke up to and enjoyed for our entire stay.
I attend the Samoset almost every year for a real estate convention. We always have a good time. The rooms are nice, the view is amazing. It's one of the nicest resorts in Maine. I do not play golf but I hear the course is very nice.
Stay here periodically in Nov. Beautiful place. Golf course looks really nice but is always closed this time of year (with good reason). Nice facilities. Great buffet/brunch on Sunday, but not cheap (over 20 per person). No elevators in timeshare bldgs. Can't see bldg numbers at night so lot is quite dark. A problem when guests get in late. They weren't ready at check in but everything else was good. Staff is very friendly. It is a seasonal area so some local places are closed.
Thank you again and we will surely make our way back to visit again!
